2000 - Boys will be grooms by Billy Sloan
POP hunk A.J. McLean looks set to copy two fellow Backstreet Boys by announcing his engagement.
Just last month, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson broke millions of teenage hearts by announcing they were planning to head down the aisles with their girlfriends.
Now pals of McLean say he is about to pop the question to Amanda Latona, 19. The US boy band star has already picked out a ring.
McLean, 22 met Latona several years ago at a party in their native Florida, where she was working as a performer in a theme park.
With three of the Backstreet Boys heading for the altar, it leaves just Howie D and Nick Carter still up for grabs.
1999 - BACKSTREET JOY; America's New Boys Have Really Got It Goin'. by Lauren Jarvis
Life couldn't be better for America's latest singing sensations, Backstreet Boys.
Their single We've Got It Goin' On is No.10 in the charts, their debut album Backstreet Boys has sold over a million copies in Europe and looks set to be a smash when it's released here on Monday.
"Things couldn't be more brilliant," smiles AJ McLean, 18. "The band's going great and I got to leave high school. What a result!"
But the five Florida-based boys aren't taking anything for granted and have gone to the experts for advice.
The band's youngest member Nick Carter, 16, recalls the words of wisdom from Sixties singing legends, The Temptations.
"They said 'Watch your business because it could be running out the door while you're performing on stage'." The lads took it to heart and apart from a spending spree at the designer shop Armani, they haven't splashed out.
"We haven't got the money to buy mansions or fast cars yet," says Howie Dorough, 23.
Backstreet Boys have not only impressed their fans with their vocal harmonies, they've also been given the stamp of approval by their heroes, Boyz II Men. "They wished us luck and said they liked what we do," beams Howie.
And hip-hop band PM Dawn, who the boys are about to record a single with, agree.
"There's no question, they're going to go a long way," says PM Dawn's Attrell Cordes.
Backstreet Boys don't anticipate any Take That-style fall-outs either. "Of course we argue, but we're working for a common goal," says Howie.
FANS can win one of 50 signed copies of the new Backstreet Boys album in this week's Mega Mirror. We've also got 50 baseball caps and 50 T-shirts up for grabs.
