AT long last the wait is over... Backstreet's BACK with a fab new album...
And they had a bit of help from their celebrity pals when they made Millennium. It even features country star Shania Twain!
They have plenty to live up to - Backstreet Boys have sold 25 million albums worldwide, had five Top 10 hits in Britain and have won stacks of awards.
But the buzz about Millennium, released on May 17, is that the boys are on top form - and it looks like it's going to be another mega smash for them. When they dropped in to the UK for a whirlwind promo visit, the boys reckoned they were sounding better than ever.
"Vocally and production-wise, I think we're getting better. We feel we've grown," says Kevin.
"We've got great musical hooks that just beat your head in and I think our vocals are getting better all the time."
AJ agrees: "The songs are better, bigger, with smoother production.
"It's Got to be You is the second coming of Backstreet's Back, a Quit Playing Games kinda song, while Larger Than Life is an anthem to our fans." Since the band toured Britain last year, AJ's hair colour has changed countless times and he's been showing off an armful of tattoos, while Brian has discovered a talent for golf and Kevin has been carving out a career on the catwalk! "Howie and I were invited to dinner as guests of Donatella Versace and after dinner she asked if we would like to model," he says. "We hung out with Whitney Houston and Kate Moss," he grins. Lucky man, but the Boys are used to rubbing shoulders with celebs.
They count ace rapper Puff Daddy, sultry Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez and even the Spice Girls among their friends. The lads have all bought homes lately. A sign that they're slowing down, taking it easy putting their feet up?
Not so, says Brian. "If you add it all together, I've slept less than a month in my new house in the last year."
And AJ jokes: "Before I left, I made sure the house was all set up, but I hadn't bought any furniture.
"When I came back 10 weeks later, the house was full of furniture!"
Freebies like that are all part and parcel of being in one of the world's most-popular groups.
The band, who formed in Orlando, in Florida, in 1995, are infamous for their OTT videos, but Nick says they toned it down for their latest single I Want It That Way, released tomorrow.
"When we decided to release it as the first single, we wanted to be on an even keel and not be too extravagant.
"We decided to save the wild videos for an up-tempo track.
"But this song is more quiet and we wanted the visuals to be simpler."
Although they will be touring the UK in June, they have no plans to come to Scotland at the moment, but Howie says they're looking forward to being back in Britain again.
And he said that they took away some special memories of Scotland the last time they visited. "We went to play golf at St Andrews and we saw the movie Braveheart while we were in Glasgow.
