While world-famous pop sensation are taking a well-deserved break as a group, the band members are busy making individual marks in outer space, Broadway musicals, feature films, and--for Justin Timberlake--the pop, hip-hop, and R&B worlds.Timberlake, a natural performer who began dancing and singing when he was still in diapers, won his very first competition as a teenager; prophetically, it was a "Dance Like New Kids On The Block" contest, indicating that young Justin was destined to join a boy band.
After helping catapult that boy band, to superstardom, he took a stab at co-producing and co-writing a few tracks on their third album, Celebrity. So it's no surprise that the youngest and most popular member of (and the ex-boyfriend of pop princess ) has decided to release a solo album, titled Justified.
Propelled by the production magic of the Neptunes and Timbaland (who previously worked with on Celebrity), Justified combines experimental hip-hop/dance and an old-skool R&B vibe, revealing a different, more passionate side of Timberlake's persona. Timberlake not only brings some of his studio skills to the solo project, but a load of attitude, charisma, and newfound sexual appeal.
Suggestive song titles like "(And She Said) Take Me Now" and "Rock Your Body" show just how far Timberlake has come since his appearance on Star Search at age 11 and as the preteen host of Disney's Mickey Mouse Club show alongside fellow future pop icons , future bandmate Joshua "J.C." Chasez, and future love interest .
Timberlake is also a talented beatboxer and an in-demand actor. In 2000, the 21-year-old heartthrob co-starred in the TV movie Model Behavior with Kathie Lee Gifford, and in 2001 he played a '70s-era Elton John in John's video for "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore" (John handpicked Timberlake for the role). An active philanthropist, Timberlake is also a donor to the Giving Back Fund and has started his own organization, the Justin Timberlake Foundation, to help provide funds for music education in public schools.
With such a giving heart and driving ambition--not to mention boyish charm, sweet vocals, and sharp moves--it's only a matter of time until Timberlake is justified not only as a boy-band wonder but also as self-contained one-man show and showbiz powerhouse.
