Light YearsLight Years
Label: PARLOPHONE/EMI
Release Date: October 1, 2000
Highest Chart Position: 1
Comments: Arguably Kylie’s most anticipated album yet, ‘Light Years’ was released in October 2000 to massive critical & commercial success, spearheaded by the No.1 hits ‘Spinning Around’ and ‘On A Night Like This’. Unashamedly pop, ‘Light Years’ featured collaborations with Robbie Williams, Guy Chambers, Johnny Douglas, Steve Anderson and Richard Stannard, and was Kylie’s first release on the Parlophone label.
‘Light Years’ debuted at No.2 both on the UK and Australian charts and, in its third week of release, became Kylie's first Australian No.1 album ever! Fuelled by the success of follow-up singles ‘Kids’ and ‘Please Stay’, and a special tour edition of the album, ‘Light Years’ achieved platinum sales in the UK and 4 x platinum sales in Australia.
Impossible PrincessImpossible Princess
Label: DECONSTRUCTION/BMG
Release Date: March 23, 1998
Highest Chart Position: 10
Recorded over the two-year period between 1995-1997, ‘Impossible Princess’ is widely regarded as Kylie’s most personal and experimental album to date.
Kylie wrote nearly all the lyrics and melodies with production credits going to Steve Anderson, Ingo Vaulk, Dave Ball and Manic Street Preachers. Originally scheduled for release in September 1997, ‘Impossible Princess’ was delayed due to the lacklustre success of lead single ‘Some Kind Of Bliss’ and production problems arising from the title change deemed necessary following the death of Diana Princess of Wales.
Confusingly retitled ‘Kylie Minogue’ upon its UK release in March 1998, the album peaked at No.10 despite widespread critical acclaim. However, fuelled by the success of ‘Did It Again’, the album was embraced by Australian audiences and debuted at No.1 on the Australian Music report when it was released under its original title in January 1998. Described by Q magazine as a ‘hidden gem’, ‘Impossible Princess’ was recently repackaged as a special edition featuring previously unreleased tracks and remixes.

Also included are a cover of The Clash’s ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’ and a camper than ever rendition of the Abba classic, 'Dancing Queen', which was issued as a radio-only single in Australia to promote the album. The live album was accompanied by a video release featuring the full length concert interspersed with behind-the-scenes footage.
