So Real is the debut album of pop singer Mandy Moore through 550 Music. It was released in 1999 when Moore was fifteen years old. The album was certified platinum in the United States. On MTV's TRL, Moore said that she would repay the buyers of this album if she had the money because she felt it sounded "so bad." The album has sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide according to the "A Walk to Remember" DVD. In the United States, it has sold 1.5 million copies] The album spawned a Top 40 hit with Candy and went platinum within three months in the RIAA, such success was trivial compared to the overwhelming popularity of teen pop's biggest stars.
In 2006, when promoting her film American Dreamz, Moore went true to her word while on a radio station, a fan had asked for his money back. Moore happily agreed and asked her manager to send a letter and a refund of $8.
