The monetary unit of Turkey is the Turkish Lira (TL), which is divided into 100 Kurus.

There is no limit on the amount of any foreign currency you can take to Turkey.

Where To Change Money

Travellers' cheques, foreign curreney and personal cheques can be changed at the official rate of exchange at all banks. There are also currency exchange desks at the main airports and stations, and some shops, restaurants, hotels and travel agencies have a licence to exchange currency.

Banking

Banks in Turkey are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays and official holidays theyare closed all day. Bear this in mind and think ahead when planning your visits to the bank. Some banks will take up to fifteen minutes to exchange currency.
